    MARRIAGE IS FOR LIFE The translators who altered Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:9 in the modern versions to allow for multiple reasons for divorce, instead of the correct interpretation in the KJV "except it be for fornication" have destroyed family life across the world. Jesus had in that very verse already discounted adultery from the meaning, and there is no word in the Greek language that means only "fornication" except that you discount adultery as a cause as Jesus did. In case you still do not understand "whosoever divorces and marries again commits adultery" means adultery is not breaking the marriage bond. Far from establishing multiple reasons to divorce and remarriage (as modernist lax teachers say) Jesus was teaching to stay a virgin before marriage, both men and women.

My wife got convicted by the Ruach HaKodesh when she came into His Ways, and started wearing a head scarf, even though most women in our society look at her sideways, give her what could only be a stear down, and many women who are of the world, appear to feel threatened by it. We attended a Messianic congregation in Tauranga New Zealand a couple of years back, and only one other women wore a head scarf besides my wife. That was sad to see. Blessings to your all.

    a more interesting moral question is not whether i would lie to nazis while hiding jews in my basement (obviously, I would because I was born with a conscience), but, why or how did a nation allow the Holocaust to happen. Their defense nearly to a person was "I was just following orders." I would be more interested why or how, the guy pouring Zyclon B into a chamber of women and children slept at night-for the rest of his life. Or, how the citizens in the towns of camps ignored the charred human flesh snowing on their bakeries, and shops and cars. An entire nation (Germany) "turned the other cheek" on its government and it cost the near extinction of God's people. If I were a Jew in Poland in the 1940's, I would certainly not put my faith in Dean Taylor or Bercot peacefully standing up to the government with the guns and ovens ordering them to execute me. Perhaps they'd join me in the gas chamber. Perhaps they wouldn't. Only God knows their hearts like he knows mine.

    pretty convenient to be an antabaptist in America protected by the most powerful military mankind has ever seen as well as a nation of man made laws backed by police with guns as well as a second amendment. Do you know anyone that has been attacked by a homicidal maniac? No. Oh well there you go. Must be it is not going to happen. It does not happen frequently because we are a nation of man made laws supported by a constitution that does indeed, recognize a God given right to life. I thank God I was born in this time and place in America. I further ask God not to ever place me in a position where a man or group of men are raping my wife in front of me and burning my child in an oven as we saw in Israel last October. I further ask God that if He does place me in that position, that He may have mercy and forgiveness as I respond carnally to defend my wife and kid's right to life. Also, I may be prepared to die a Martyr's death for the Gospel, but my sheep may not yet be. The military man in this debate should understand the term "situationally dependent." The mission is for the furtherance of the Gospel until Jesus returns. If it is more beneficial for the continuance in the moment of decision for me to die nonviolently, then so be it. But if I die and all of my family dies. And then every Christian dies. No Gospel. God made me a protector. I do not apologize for that. He came as the lamb. He promised to come again as the lion. The first was loving and peaceful. The second will truly be a "just war" to end all wars the likes of which we cannot fathom. It will be a slaughter. Lets not get bogged down in Jesus the lamb and remember He too, will come back to kill.

    Wearing fine clothes and expensive clothes is not a sin if one can afford it and it doesn't become ones 'God'. God Himself blessed people like Abraham woth wealth. But wearing revealing clothes is not what God wants for women. It makes men sin in their hearts by provoking lust. When you choose your dress for the day or for the occasion, what is your motive behind that? God is all into motives. He checks those stringently and judges accordingly.

    Interesting but not quite biblical. I noticed that any critique by some here somehow causes a whirlwind of upsettedness. I hope it doesn’t happen here. The King James version doesn’t mention a veil or a shawl or a cloth it just says a woman ought to be covered especially if she is going to pray or prophesy. Meaning they are just examples and not exclusive conditions. Someone wrote that they were physically assaulted or confronted about wearing a veil but I have also read about how some women are shamed or pressured to wearing a veil. In either case no one should be assaulted or pressured. Also no one should be thinking that BECAUSE this happened to them that it confirms that what they are doing is right. I am sure that Mormons or Jehovah’s witnesses think the same whenever they get yelled at or thrown water when they knock on people’s doors. People should follow the Bible not someone’s interpretation or worse yet a church which follows all sorts of false doctrines like purgatory, Mary worship, infant baptism, indulgences etc. God bless and read your Bibles.

      Thanks for taking the time to listen @defending. I want you to defend the scriptures more not less. Its really interesting that you encourage people to read the Bible and then say a bunch of things the Bible doesn't say, especially since you recognize in your comment that the Bible says that women should cover when praying or prophesying. Do you want people to obey this part of the Bible or do you think people can choose to obey or ignore the apostles instruction? If they can ignore it what is that based on? Feeling? Your comment? Who are you to say it's "not exclusive condition"? Where does the apostle make this comment. I agree with you that people should study the scriptures. I just think they should also obey what they read without trying to wiggle out of obedience to the apostle. Please don't dismiss this critique as a "whirlwind of upsettedness". You can't tell people to study the scriptures while also telling them they don't need to obey what it clearly says. "People should follow the Bible not someone's interpretation or worse yet church.." I appreciate you leaving a case in point right here in the comments. -Matthew@FOTW Boston

    • @defendingthegospel721

      @@fotwboston My hope is that people obey the Bible but you seem to think that obeying the Bible means accepting your interpretation. That is not how this works. No one is saying that we should ignore the apostle's instructions when the instructions are about keeping one's head covered in long hair. Now I know you have your own interpretation but I strictly am focused on what is written not on what I think. This is not about what you call "wiggling out" of obedience. The KJV never mentions the word veil or cloth but it does mention the words hair directly 3 times and indirectly 4 times with the words shorn and shaven. You seem to like to repeat the word obedience which seems as though this is how you justify my comment. In other words it can't be strictly because of Scripture it must be out of disobedience. Well I am here to tell you this is ONLY about scripture. If we were to quantify our comments I think I mentioned a bit more on proof that you did. But if you have evidence I would like to hear it.

    • @fotwboston
      @fotwboston 18 дней назад

      @@defendingthegospel721 you are adding your interpretation while saying don't listen to anyones interpretation. the Bible says women cover your heads when praying or prophesying and you are interpreting that to mean hair (which is textually impossible and incoherent because a woman can not take long her off when she is not praying and prophesying and put it on when she is). So your point is extremely ironic AND hypocritical. You are welcome to think what you will but you are doing the opposite of "Just scripture". You are assuming you have no interpretation while doing the exact opposite. We could argue the greek with you because KJV is not the language Paul wrote in, but it's irrelevant because even in the king James it says to cover and not covering is the same as being shaven. It is very clearly in the text that women must do something to cover their heads. You can, like many people do, argue that we don't have to do what is commanded in the corinthian epistle because it was for another time or people. This is wrong also but at least those who make this case aren't making a hypocritical point. At least they recognize the plain scripture that says a woman should cover when praying or prophesying.

    • @defendingthegospel721
      @defendingthegospel721 18 дней назад

      @@fotwboston But I am not claiming to be adding my interpretation I am claiming that this is what the Bible is saying.I disagree with your belief that the scripture says that a woman ought to cover her head with a synthetic covering Paul was referring to hair. And I do not subscribe to those whom you refer to that argue that we don't have to do what is commanded in the Corinthian epistle because it was for another time or people. I do not believe in that argument so please do not put words in my mouth, thank you. Ok I understand how one can think that the verses are referring to a synthetic head covering because the Scriptures seem to indicate that there are two exclusive conditions to wear one and that is when a woman is either praying and/or prophesying. But does this interpretation really stand up to logic? If we were to believe that under certain conditions a woman ought to wear a physical head covering, then it stands to reason that under OTHER conditions a woman should NOT wear one. For example, if you are going to argue that a woman ought to wear a veil because the Bible claims there are two conditions, then it is logical to presume that any other condition would ALLOW them to be without one, like speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healing the sick, casting out devils, etc. But when confronted with this logic most will suddenly come up with more conditions, which nullifies the two-condition argument. I also understand why it is important for veil promoters to believe in this because if these words were actual conditions, then it would seem as though the covering were something that can be placed on or taken off even though it does not EXPLICITLY say this. This belief based on what one believes to be IMPLIED and not by a direct statement. Some like to believe this because they ASSUME that praying and prophesying are two conditions instead of seeing them as mere examples. Now I can understand how someone can mistakenly conclude praying and prophesying as conditions in verse 5, on the surface, but once you read the rest of the verses in context one cannot reach that conclusion. If they were meant to be conditions then why would Paul say in verse 7… “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” If the reason for men not to cover their heads in this verse is because he is the “image and glory of God,” then why assume Paul was saying that there were only TWO conditions in verse 4? Wouldn’t 7 override any supposed conditions? Shouldn’t that make you question that perhaps Paul was just giving a couple of examples? But let’s continue. Verses 8 and 9 give us another understanding that Paul must have been referring to praying and prophesying as examples because he adds the order of creation into the mix. “For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man CREATED for the woman; but the woman for the man.” If Paul states that the creation order has something to do with the reason as to why women ought to cover (in long hair) and men to be uncovered (aka have short hair) then we can conclude that this doctrine must be bound in NATURE. That is to say that it must have taken place since the creation of Adam and Eve and BEFORE the manufacturing of veils or hats, and BEFORE the creation of churches, which is another reason why hair easily fits the mold. This is confirmed when reading verses 13 and 14 when Paul asks you to make an observational judgment that if it is comely (aka pleasant looking) for a woman to pray uncovered (in short hair) and that even NATURE teaches us that a man with long hair is shameful. Why would Paul ask you to think that something as unnatural as a woman without a hat would look off and then say something as natural as long hair would look off on a man? Paul was saying that not being covered in long hair especially while praying looks uncomely and in the same breath he continues and says men with long hair also looks naturally wrong.

      You are right that Paul bases this argument on creation so how it is that a veil would apply? If the reasons for a woman to cover her head is found in the order of creation as so noted in verses 8 and 9, then how can one claim to use it as evidence to wear a MANUFACTURED veil or hat? It should be obvious that it had to be something natural like hair. Therefore an uncovered woman is a woman who is not covered in long hair, therefore the passage has more to do with being covered with long hair or not covered in long hair (aka short hair)

    God never wanted His people to have kings, but they wanted to look and operate like the Godless nations all around them, so He gave them over to their evil, crooked desire, and politics has been nothing but a mess ever since. God alone is sovereign, Jesus is the only King, and this year, 2024, will be the first year since I started voting at age 18 that I will not vote for any of these wicked people. Studying 1 and 2 Chronicles right now, and what a mess kings have made from the beginning. It's no different now. I'll follow Christ, and Christ only.

    When you think of it, pray for Daniel & the others who are living for Christ outside the county they were born in. My wife & I have a ministry called Aaron & Hur Care, Aaron & Hur Care is here to lift up the arms of those serving overseas so they will not grow weary in the fight. We provide practical help, friendship, resources, and emotional support. We are also involved in networking, and training individuals and churches to care for overseas workers. I feel that if we send Missionaries and do not care for their "needs" (seen or unseen), we have failed them and the Lord.

    I believe it is possible to go to heaven, if one has repented, and believed, but did not understand/did not have the opportunity to be baptized, but I definitely have a high view of baptism. It took me a long time to get here, but I absolutely believe that it is spiritual birth, John 3:5, Titus 3:5. It is circumcision, Colossians 2-11:12. It is death barrel and resurrection with the Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 6-3:6. It is coming into Christ, Galatians 3:27, end it has saving actuality, one Peter 3:21. These passages are really difficult to get around and it is amazing what gymnastics people do to get around this. I do believe that one can go to heaven apart from baptism under certain circumstances and I base that on Romans four versus 11 and following and also scriptures like act 10-404:48, but I do not give anyone an out who would want to refuse water baptism, Mark 16:16, act 2:38, 22:16. The one I probably have is that I believe that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ should be invoked, whatever else is said. I believe this because of the act narratives as well as the teachings of the apostles. I do not believe this contradicts Matthew 828:19 because it is one name in Greek. A great book on the subject is by David Pawson, entitled, “the normal Christian birth. “I would highly recommend it.

      I think the term "followers of the way" is from several accounts in Acts such as Acts 22:4 "And I [Apostle Paul] persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women." Also, Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me. So a disciple of Christ is a follower of Jesus, aka "the way".

    Christians in history often weren't afraid of deadly diseases. Some saints treated and helped hundreds of people with the plague for example. Edit - also in some places meeting is literally dangerous to believers, like Nigeria where robbers stalk churches to break in and take their things and often kill people. Yet those churches meet despite the risk to health Also scripture talks about bishops praying for the sick. Lastly, is government mandate the ultimate authority over churches? Or is God? And if a church disagrees with government over meeting in regards to health issues like covid, should not a church authoritatively have that capacity to meet? How long could the government theoretically have shut down religious freedom?

  • @jannulik

    Let's just make sure that we don't create religion or idol out of wearing a head covering and looking down on those that choose not to. Satan has ingenious ways in creating religious pride in things that look pious or honourable at first glance.

    You are right that the Lord's promise that "the Son of Man is about to come with his angels in the glory of the Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done" was referring to an event that was to take place not immediately after, but after some who then heard him had died, but while others who heard him them were still alive (Mat. 16:27-28). Then, those who survived the Day of the Lord, would "see the kingdom of God after it has come with power" (Mark 9:1). You are right, sir, that this was referring to, and was fulfilled in 70 A.D. when the Lord came in judgment upon Jerusalem and destroyed the country, city and temple. So, if the Lord came in judgment, and the Kingdom of God came in power in 70 A.D., this is "your coming and of the end of the age" of Mat. 24:3, which, again, was to take place during that generation that heard the warning (Mat. 24:34). At that time, and in that event, not only did the Lord come, we also have everything else: 1. The old heaven and earth pass away, and the sun and moon stop giving their light, and the stars fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies (powers) were shaken and removed (Mat. 24:29-30) 2. The harvest gathering together took place, at the blast of the Great Trumpet (Mat. 24:31). But this is also the harvest at the end of the age (Mat. 13:39), when the wicked are uprooted and gathered into bundles to be burned (Mat. 13:40-42), and the resurrection of the just and the unjust of Dan. 12 when "the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father" (Mat. 13:43). Although you say you aren't a full preterist, you gave away the farm here. At the fall of Jerusalem prophecy was fulfilled, as the Lord said "or these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written" (Luke 21:22). What prophecies? ALL of them! By your own admission: 1. The coming of the Kingdom in power and judgement of Dan. 7, when the Son of Man comes on the cloud or with the cloud or as the cloud, per Mat. 24; Mat. 16:27-28; Mark 8:38-9:1. Which is also the coming of the Lord to his temple suddenly of Mal. 3 after John the Baptist has gone before him. Which is also the coming of the Lord to the temple, putting the city in uproar, when the Lord renders recompense to his enemies of Is. 66:6 in connection with the destruction of the old heaven and earth and the arrival of the new heavens and the new earth. 2. The harvest gatherings of the weeds to be burned and the wheat into the barn at the end of the age when the Great Trumpet is blasted, in fulfillment of Is. 27. Again, you have given away the farm! Is. 27 has the new creation as the new vineyard, being the resurrected or renewed or redeemed people of God (Is. 27:2-3), being the vine of Jacob that would fill the world with fruit (Is. 27:6), which happened in the First Century according to Paul (Col. 1:6). Is. 27 also has the destruction of the enemies of God, as the dragon, as Leviathan, being put to death by YHWH himself and his terrible sword. This is the same dragon character as in the book of Revelation, the Satan (Enemy or Adversary) that was to be destroyed in the First Century (Rom. 16:20; Rev. 12:12). That dragon was the wayward people of God, who would be put to death by him, when the old heaven and earth passed away and was replaced by the new heavens and the new earth in Is. 65-66. Those people and that nation were to miss out on the wedding feast and would be put to death instead (Is. 65:13-15; Mat. 8:10-12; 22:1-14). The judgement at the sounding of the great trumpet of Is. 27 and Mat 24 is the destruction of the Second Temple, when "not one stone would be left on another" and when "he makes all the stones of the altars like chalkstones crushed to pieces" (Is. 27:9) when the fortified city too would be desolated (Is. 27:10). Why would it be desolated? Why would Jerusalem's house be left to her desolate? Because the blood of the martyrs she had killed would be exposed and avenged (Is. 26:21), and to atone for Jacob's guilt (Is. 27:9), for "on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation." (Mat. 23:35-36). It would be then that the snakes, the brood of vipers, would be destroyed and sent to hell (Mat. 23:33). That is what the Lord taught about prophecy and how and when it would be fulfilled. He not only said, he promised and he said "truly I say unto you" that the prophecies he quoted would be required and fulfilled on those people in that generation, at that place, with that effect and result. If we want a true hope, we should recognise that that was the "Hope of Israel" of Paul (Acts. 28:20), the hope of the resurrection of Israel as a nation, all 12 tribes (Acts. 26:6-8). That resurrection of Israel would be "life from the dead" (Rom. 11:15). That resurrection would be when all that are in their graves would hear the voice of the son of God and come out (John 5:25). Dead Israel would come to life, in the gospel. That is the resurrection of the Bible, of prophecy, e.g. Ez. 37. But that resurrection of Israel to life would not be alone, from Israel would also rise the unjust, the wicked and the enemies of the true people of God would also rise up, to persecute them, to rise up as false christs, to take power by means of rebellion. From the tombs would come a wicked man, a wicked ruler, an antichrist, a false christ, a man of sin, a son of perdition, who was working and restrained for a time, but who would then be revealed, and would rise publically to take over the temple and seat himself there (2 Thes. 2). That antichrist character, that false christ, that rebel, was also predicted in the Old Testament prophecy, the second little horn of the Fourth Beast, Israel (Dan. 7). That little horn would rise to persecute the saints for a short time, a little while, 42 months, time, times and half a time, half seven, after the 62 sevens finished (Dan. 9:24-27). By means of that rebel, an anointed one (a legitimate ruler of Second Temple Israel, a High Priest, a governor) would be cut off and have nothing. By means of that rebellion would come the time of the end, the appointed time of the end, the final seven of Old Covenant restored Second Temple Israel. At that appointed time would the rebel precipitate the war to the end, taking over the Second Temple until it was destroyed along with Jerusalem and the rebel government, and indeed restored Second Temple Israel herself. That is the biblical eschatological narrative. That is the program that ends with the Great Tribulation on Israel (Dan. 12:1) when both the righteous and the wicked fools awake from the dust to contend for the Hope of Israel. One hope is dashed, when "the power of the holy people has been completely shattered" (Dan. 12:7) after time, times and half a time of power. One hope is realised, when they receive eternal life, that is, the life of the age to come, the life of the gospel, the messianic age. Those are the ones, the evaneglists, who rise up to heaven and become stars that shine in the Kingdom of God at the end of the age.

      The hope that you stated in your opening about victory over death is misplaced as well as mistimed. The life eternal is that one may never die (John 8:58; 11:26). Patently, this is not talking about physical death, nor about physical life. The gospel is not there to give us hope that we will physically never die, or that having physically died we will physically rise again. Even in the New Creation, in the New Heavens and the New Earth, there is still physical death. And birth and marriage, see Is. 65-66. And there is still sin (Is. 65:20) including murder (Rev. 21:8; 22:15). We are mortal beings, as individuals. We are born, get married, produce more mortal children, and then we die, we return to the dust, we decay, and we know nothing and have no hearing to hear anyone's prayers, and no power to answer them or to help the living. We leave behind only our shadow, our shade, a memory. But, to God we live on (Mat. 22:32), in his mind we never are forgotten. We join the great cloud of witnesses. Like Abel, we speak even though we are dead, but only by our past actions, our testimony, our witness to the living, our record in the hall of faith. In the Kingdom of God, and in the resurrection of the just, the dead ones rise and live, in a particular and appropriate sense. The dead who died under the Old Covenant world are not lost, were not lost, even though they all died without receiving the reward and the hope that they awaited. Their hope was the better resurrection. "And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect." (Heb. 11:39-40). The dead ones would be perfected only with the living in the gospel. And those living in the gospel would not be made perfect without the dead ones joining them. These dead ones were dead in Adam, and the dead ones in Adam, like those who had fallen asleep in Christ, would be made alive in the resurrection (1 Cor. 15:22). This doctrine is called the communion of the saints, and refers to the teaching that we, the living in Christ, are in communion with those who have fallen asleep in Christ, and those who slept/died in Adam. The resurrection is not the resurrection only of Christ and of the Church, it is the resurrection of Israel, it is the resurrection of the dead body of Adam. That church from 30-70 A.D. was not an island unto itself, being sown as a seed into the ground, as a spiritual body being sown alive, that would not die and that would rise the same spiritual body. No, that body was part of the body of Adam, the "lowly body", which needed to be changed, transformed (Phil 3:21). That body needed to be sown alive and then to die in the ground (1 Cor. 15:36), as a natural body, a perishable body, a body of dishonour, a mortal body, a weak body, of dust, that bears the image of the man of dust, Adam. And it had to change, to be changed, to be transformed, so that it would become a spiritual body, an imperishable body, a glorious body, an immortal body, bearing the image of Christ, the man of heaven, the life-giving spirit (1 Cor. 15:42-49). But how are the dead ones rising? with what body do they come (1 Cor. 15:35)? They come in the glorious spiritual body, all united in one body (Eph 4:4), the resurrection body of Christ. But what of their individual existence, nature and lives? What do they do? They do not marry and are not given in marriage because they are not living in the same manner as those who live in a physical and biological sense (Mat. 22:29-30). This is in contrast to those who are still biologically alive living in the new heavens and the new earth who marry, produce children and die (Is. 65:20-23). The resurrected dead ones cannot die anymore, and cannot marry anymore, and cannot produce children anymore (biological children, anyway!) This seems adequate to frame the nature and extent of their existence in the body of Christ after the resurrection, after they were raised to join the life of the immortal resurrection body. It does not suggest any capacity for consciousness or conversations, and more suggests vindication and reward while they rest and shine as stars in heaven, giving light to the land, and to the holy city. Obviously these biblical teachings are difficult for those who were sold a bill of goods that they would physically rise to new physical life in a new physical heaven and earth, and would enjoy conscious life of bliss forever. That bill of goods comes more from Plato and Greek superstitions and popular relation than it does from biblical teaching about our mortal frame and our life in the gospel.
