FOTW 101.08 A series by Matthew Milioni focusing on the principles at the foundation of the Church, the things at the root of who and what we are. Extrabiblical Standards God intended the vagueness around some teachings and their applications as a process for us to become students of the word; to understand the scriptures and ourselves in the context of them. 35:04 this makes me wonder about the Priestly garments… I don’t know enough about this, but I do know the priestly garments included something for the head. I’d like to know more about this, as it is a question that comes up about Scripture in my thoughts as I think about these things. Is this something you know more about? Thank you for all of this teaching!
wow! you were in kampala uganda 🎉
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for the video. I have some questions. Kindly help. These are as follows: 1. How do you explain 1Cor.7:27? It is said that to be loosed from a wife means to be divorced. Paul first said, “Do not seek to be loosed (separated or divorced).” Then, he asked, “Are you loosed (separated or divorced) from a wife?” You know the rest of the statement. Paul allowed someone who is loosed from a wife to marry. Can it be proven that to be loosed doesn’t mean to be divorced? 2. In India, we see people who were already remarried and then they heard about the Lord Jesus and got converted from Hinduism to Christ. When they were divorced and remarried, they had no clue about the biblical teaching. Many didn’t even hear about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They were ignorant. Do they need to be separated? Will this teaching not devastate the family and trouble even the minds of their children? 3. I know a Christian sister who got married with a missionary. After 1 year of marriage, she found out that he was already married to another and had a daughter too. He was a divorcee. He and his family hid this thing from her. She was so heartbroken, but she continued to live with him and gave birth to two children too. Is she into adultery? Should she get divorced from him? If she divorces, then can she remarry since her present marriage is not acceptable in the sight of God? I think that the exception clause can be applied to her because she will be divorcing him because of pornea (in this case, pornea is being in a marital relationship with a man whose first spouse is still alive). 4. Another guy got married under pressure from his wife. He was afraid that she might take her life if he doesn’t marry her. He took the vow but not from his heart at all. In his heart he was thinking that he is going to leave her at an appropriate time. But, it has been years now that they have been living together, though he tried to leave her but failed to do so. Can this be a valid marriage in the sight of God? Can he depart from her and marry another? 5. “What God joined together, let no man separate,” said Jesus. What if someone says, “My marriage was not joined by God in the first place. Only the Calvinists think that everything that happens to us is done by God. So, I can remarry”?
Im hoping the woman who used to be a skinhead has also renounced the oppressive racism and hatred that she practiced
When someone is "modest" it means... not showing off. That's a big piece of it. The rest is being respectful. It is a principle, more than a prescription. When it is flamboyant modesty... it isn’t modesty.
He must have been discipled by Vinny. Sounds just like him.

you all- never you guys!
Thank you for uploading this video. You've made some great points and encouraged those of us who have wanted to be a missionary family, but aren't able to uproot our lives and go overseas to do so.
What Bible translation did you read from, please?
The English Standard Version. ESV.
Where is the test?
Thank you for this message. Answer to my prayers. Praise God.
Thank you Matthew. Praise God for your faithfulness and allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you. This was a message I needed to hear as I prepare to speak next weekend.
Slip back and fall into old patterns and try to be pretty … sisters if this is sinfull this sounds like the teaching of demons …where in scripture does it say it is sinful for a woman to try to be pretty??? I’m at loss!!! 😱🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
While I love many things about this video I’m not sure is that many of the practical advise regarding make up and jewelry are not biblical just preferences but we need to have a biblical foundation. God is not against beauty. Make up, jewelry. Is similar to your home, to nature itself. See how God dresses the flowers and birds, so majestic, we do turn our heads to look at them and admire them! But not in a sinful way. A woman with make up, jewelry, that looks natural, clean, orderly, humble, self controlled, she won’t run heads but she would look pleasing to the eye. And there’s no sin in that. God gives us an example of how he dressed the church, talks about costly garments, jewelry even nose rings!!! So ladies in this video how do you justify your convictions with scripture?
This was one of the best sermons I have ever heard! 🙌🏼
May God help me.
ive been called crazy. GOD loves us. were on CHRIST path
amen
So true. Thank you brother Finny! God bless you.
Hi Mr. Kuruvilla The passage you quoted from 2:15 is actually from Psalm 78 not Psalm 74.
This is such a great and helpful sermon - thanks a lot, dear brother in christ! I learned so much today that I need to share it immediately with my LifeGroup. Be blessed 🙏
How i wish I could be with you all. Such beautiful Truth that "churches" have beat down for so long. May God bless you as you continue to walk in The Way
I am Roman Catholic and when attending Mass. I veil myself. I’ve been doing it for at least four years and I cannot see myself not covering my head when in the Presence of the Lord. Modesty is not only in dressing, but I think more in your intention in life about everything. It’s a change of heart because the center of the life is Christ. Modesty is reverence for God and we have lost a lot of it. Great video. If people cannot accept how others dress to show reverence to the Lord, I’ll say they need to find charity in their hearts. Great video. God bless you. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Coco Channel wire pantsuits as well.
I really value this teaching but it was strange how one of the women said, “Thanks guys”. It’s kind of an oxymoron to teach about femininity and then call them “guys”.
9:19 "There is an old saying: If you only have the Word, you dry up, if you only have the spirit, you blow up, but if you have both, you grow up."
That was an amazing message and a powerful testimony from your family!! Wow!!!
I grew up charismatic. I'm not sure how this is any different than what they taught me. I'd like to know what articles and books he has gathered his information.
Ladies, you’re not going to go to hell if you aren’t modest enough. Jesus died for all your sins. Of course we want to obey God in how we live but this conversation came over very legalistic and fear driven.
Being a Muslim, very glad to see christian women advocating to wear modest clothes. They feel it as a sign of freedom. ❤
Absolutely amazing! Thank you for your teaching!
I don't get how folks read "except for sexual immorality" as "It's OK to remarry after being divorced". It seems to me something is being read into the text that simply isn't there when this is done. Nowhere does Jesus say, "Yeah, go ahead and remarry, that is fine. No problem!" It just isn't there. Also, I think this approach tramples on the possibility of that beautiful thread that runs all throughout Scripture... Reconciliation.
He mentioned Robby Gallaty, David Platt, and Edgar A. Guest.
Modesty, is the True Virtue...
As a guy I was blessed listening to these beautiful testimonies sisters. I will share this video to some of my female family members.
Amen. I'm now under the covering of your church. I searched hard and long for this church, the enemy tried to deter but I found you guys and I'm inundatedly joyous.
This did not age well….
Should a woman wear a head covering at all times or only in public worship? If it is at all times, as a speaker erroneously states, that would mean that a man must uncover his head at all times even in the bitterest cold during a snowstorm in the arctic, it would mean that a husband could not enjoy seeing his wife's beautiful hair even when the two of them are in private. If this is true, she has no use for her hair and she might as well just shave her head. But clearly the context indicates that it's in public worship that these behaviors are to take place. His supposed contradiction with chapter 14 is easily reconciled. There, it refers to women speaking up, out of order and being disruptive, clearly they can prophecy if the holy spirit is truly prompting them. I have agreed with everything this man has said up to this point but here he is defending an unjustified practice that is common within his church.
I would like to add my two cents here after reading this discussion. First of all I believe we should follow the teaching in 1st Corinthians 11. The main problem here is the misunderstanding of 1st Corinthians 11 altogether. I also have made an intense study of this passage, and the obvious conclusion is that Paul was referring to long hair being the covering. The first thing one should take notice is the lack of wording required to conclude that a veil is being referred to here. The word veil or cloth is not in the text if we read from the King James version. If you read from the “modern” versions then you might get that view but not from the Textus Receptus. I would like for you to reread the verses that allegedly refer to a veil which is 4-7 and 13. In those verses we read the words, cover, uncovered and not covered. According to scholars these are used as adverbs. Like if you were to say I am going to cover my feet. No one should be thinking of a veil just the action of being covered. What is missing in these verses are nouns that would prove the idea of veils. Since we should not be assuming anything we should be asking the question what is the thing that a woman should be covered WITH based on the passage ALONE? So if you do the math you would find that Paul refers to hair directly 3 times and then indirectly 4 times with the words shorn and shaven. So if there is no noun for the word veil or cloth yet there are 7 instances of idea of hair, then what are we to conclude? That Paul is referring to hair whether it be short or long. But the counterargument would be that Paul is allegedly telling women to put something on. But that is not exactly true it says a woman should be covered, but he is referring to long hair based on the surrounding verses. But what about that a woman ought to be covered when praying or prophesying? The assumption is a that Paul was referring to only two instances which is not true he was merely giving us two examples. This also applies to men about being uncovered. Evidence of this is written in the forgoing verses. Paul writes that men ought not to cover because he is the image and glory of God. And then Paul goes into how woman was made for man and is the glory of the man. So it would seem that man shouldn’t be covered at any time if he is the glory and image of God. Paul also mentions that the mere observation of a praying woman should make us note how uncomely (unappealing in appearance) for a woman to be uncovered. Paul states this in a way that it should be obvious to anyone that she looks off in verse 13. He does this again in verse 14 about how shameful it looks if a man has long hair. He says it this way… Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? KJV So this judgement that we should make is exclusively based on observation of an “uncovered” woman as well as a long haired man. Two consecutive questions both appealing to something innate or within us. Paul is in essence saying that it should be obvious to see that something is wrong or off. So how is it that for the women we are somehow to know within us that a woman would be unappealing in appearance without a manufactured veil? That does not seem logical especially since the word veil is never mentioned. Unless that is not what Paul is meaning but rather that if the woman was not covered in long hair (meaning her hair is short) doing something holy or godly LIKE praying or prophesying. I think most people can relate that looking at a woman with short hair does have an unappealing appearance. It naturally provokes head turns. And if there was any question Paul flat out states what he was talking about in verse 15. So the facts are that there no nouns to use as evidence of a veil. There is evidence that Paul was using praying and prophesying as examples. Paul appeals to nature and something innate within us to judge that being uncovered or covered (meaning having short hair or long hair) should be obvious to all. So this cannot make sense with a manufactured veil.
The JWT in the context of Empire is a charade. This was true back in Roman times, and it's true now as the US Empire struggles to maintain hegemony around the world. It's pretty simple. Jesus in no way, shape or form came to support worldly empires and their bloodlust for power and profit. Jesus clearly rejected this type of worldy power while in the desert dealing with the Deceiver. It's shocking that "Christians" seriously entertain the JWT as part of the legacy of Jesus the Christ. No wonder 2000 years after His death and resurrection it seems like we've learned NOTHING. Because most of us haven't.
Thank you so much. This message is so timely for my life right now. Great prayer at the end as well. God bless.
One of the most profound messages God is using a man to deliver
God bless all sisters
Nice
How do you all renconcile the early church writings commentary on 1 corinthians 11 for example by tertullian and clement of alexandria, perscribing the head covering to go as far as a face veil?
The problem is when you read Tertullians writing on this one cannot avoid seeing that he was an extremist on this subject. Note the level of anger in his own words. “Arabia’s HEATHEN females will be your JUDGES, who cover not only the head, but the FACE also… And the modesty of heathen discipline, indeed, is more simple, and, so to say, more barbaric. To us the Lord has, even by revelations, measured the space for the veil to extend over. For a certain sister of ours was thus addressed by an angel, beating her neck, as if in applause: elegant neck, and deservedly bare! It is well for you to unveil yourself from the head right down to the LOINS, lest withal this FREEDOM OF YOUR NECK profit you not! And, of course, what you have said to one you have said to all. But HOW SEVERE A CHASTISEMENT WILL THEY LIKEWISE DESERVE, who, amid (the recital of) the Psalms, and at any mention of (the name of) God, continue uncovered" Given the facts above I would disqualify him as someone who should be taken seriously as his extremist views as well as his temperament is not in line with the scriptures.
"You are taking this Christianity thing way too far." That statement broke my heart. I wish all people in churches would take it too far! Hahaha!
I am blesses by this edifying message. Thank you for sharing. God bless you all there
Praise the Lord that there is still sound Biblical historical teaching left on this earth! 🔥💗✝️
